Cool nights and hot jazz
Monday, October 13, 2008
The season is winding down, the chill in the night air is returning and we're all wishing there was just a little more summer left. Well, if you're looking for a little pick-me-up, treat yourself to tickets for the Robert Baca Jazz Orchestra at the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts. This hot jazz group is sure to spice up the night! What exactly is the definition of jazz? According to one of the greats, Duke Ellington, "It's all music" and ladies and gentlemen that's what you'll get! On Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 7:30p.m. The Robert Baca Jazz Orchestra will take you on a journey through the ages of jazz with a show that features many varied artists and the unique sounds they contributed to this genuinely American tradition. Jazz is a style of music best enjoyed live where the artists have the freedom to improvise and take the songs to a new level by adding a texture and color to the sounds that change with every single show. This is one of the great joys of the listeners and musicians alike and is sure to delight an audience of all ages. Trumpeter Robert Baca's Grammy-nominated 13-piece Big Band offers the best of the best in the jazz world including songs by all of the most renowned jazz musicians. Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, you name it they play it! With a swinging rhythm section, a bright brass sound, and the tight mellow grooves of the saxophone, you'll be able to experience all of the energy and excitement that comes along with enjoying a Big Band.. live! Here's the best part: You don't have to travel far for this great entertainment! Come and join us for the first show of our new season "Arts Alive" at the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts in Spencer. Robert Baca has been teaching trumpet and jazz studies at UW Eau Claire for twenty years. Sponsored in part by the generosity of: Bill & Linda Bauer, Progressive Travel, Bill Mork - Marshfield Furniture, Randy & Diane Veale and The Wisconsin Arts Board.
