Jerusalem-Sacred & Profane
with filmmaker, Rick Ray
Sunday, May 2, 2010 -- 3:00 p.m.
Rick Ray walks through history and examines the elements that make the ancient city of
Jerusalem one of the holiest places on earth. You will see why Jerusalem is such an
important center for Muslims, Christians and Jews alike and explore the inevitable
conflicts that have emerged as a result. Ray focuses his camera lens on such sights as
the Old City, the Western (Wailing) Wall, the Dome of the Rock, the Church of the Holy
Sepulcher, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Mount of Olives and the Via Dolorosa. He also
visits the Muslim quarter of the Old City, and synagogues of orthodox Jews in
MeaShea'arim. Other sites to be visited include Masada, the Sea of Galilee and the
Jordan River, Bethlehem and the Dead Sea. Finally, witness the New City of Jerusalem
expanding beyond the Old City walls, and a region whose future boundaries and battles
will define the hopes, dreams and memories of the world.
