Birds, with timeless appeal, continue to fascinate and inspire. Their exquisitely detailed and colorful plumage, the majesty of their flight and their often fragile co-existence with their surroundings have spurred legions of bird enthusiasts. When some of the most talented artists from throughout the world turn their attention to birds the resulting depictions are breathtaking. Join us for a docent-led tour of this internationally renowned exhibition, take a ride up Rib Mountain and enjoy lunch at The Great Dane Pub. We depart the Tack Center parking lot at 9:00 a.m. via Progressive Travel's comfortable motor coach.

Jerry Apps An Afternoon with Author, Jerry Apps
Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Jerry Apps, born and raised on a Wisconsin farm, is Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the award-winning author of more than 30 books, many of them on rural history and country life. His remarks will focus on his four-volume Ames County series of novels: Travels of Increase Joseph, In a Pickle, Blue Shadows Farm and Cranberry Red. Ames County exists only in the author's imagination, but is based on Waupaca, Waushara, Portage and Wood Counties. His enlightening tales are full of humorous and harrowing incidents drawn from personal journals about life on the farm. Autographed books will be available for sale. The afternoon is free and light refreshments will be served.
