SPECIAL EVENTS

Birds in Art -- Motor Coach Trip
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 -- 9:00 a.m.
Cost: $15 per person (lunch not included)
Birds in multitudes of mediums and artistic styles fly thousands of miles to come to the Woodson Art Museum every autumn. They must know something! This year's 35th annual exhibition will be no exception. Birds of the land, sea, and sky always find a hospitable welcome and a refuge from their migrations in the Woodson's galleries, where each painting, work on paper, and sculpture is the Birds in Art equivalent of a Faberge egg - gem-like and precious. Come join us for a docent-led tour of this prestigious exhibit and enjoy lunch at The Great Dane Pub. We depart the Tack Center parking lot at 9:00 a.m. via Progressive Travel's comfortable motor coach.

Victoria Houston discusses the writing process and how she found her way to writing the Loon Lake Mystery Series, which is set in the Northwoods against a backdrop of fishing for muskie, walleye, bass and bluegill. Her heroine is a police chief who is also an ardent fly fisherman. With the help of a retired dentist, a local fishing guide and a cast of eccentric local characters, she solves murders in the fictional Wisconsin community of Loon Lake. The eleventh book in the series, DEAD DECEIVER, will be published in November 2010 by Tyrus Books.

There is no admission charge to attend. Refreshments will be available as well as her books for purchase and signing.
